Biking and Hiking

We have a bike rider! We loaded up the car with bikes and helmets and drove to the biggest and emptiest parking lot we could think of.  After several half-hearted attempts at ditching the training wheels on the bumpy and narrow sidewalks, Sophie found unbelievable and amazing success in the wide-open parking lot.  We were all laughing and screaming with joy! I am so proud of her for persevering and showing how tough she can be!

This little clown decided he would rather be funny than ride his bike!

He was yelling and cheering for Sophie, too!

This week, we also maximized a beautiful spring evening. A short walk to observe the sprouts in the farm behind our yard turned into a spontaneous 2-mile hike up the trails behind our neighborhood.  The kids collected flowers, rocks, and dead bugs.  Cam became a hot, sweaty mess spinning tall tales about spiders and snakes that he had allegedly collected. ("Mommy, do you like it when snakes tail you? Cuz I don't.") And Sophie (disgusting pink eye and all....) ran ahead with pride as the leader of our hike.  Cam collapsed on the kitchen floor when we got home; it was way past bedtime, and he was "well, actually, pretty thirsty cuz I'm a little bit tired from our mountain hike."
