Baby Shower Fun!

Week 30!!!

I can hardly believe that we've made the turn out of the 20s...this pregnancy is flying by. According to all the books, the little baby is about 3 pounds. Trust me when I say that she's making her weight known to me!! Our childbirth classes started this past week, so I've begun to accept that within the next 10+ weeks, I must endure labor. There's no way around it, right?!

I'm sorry to report that I don't have a belly shot to post because my wonderful husband has our camera in Fiji where he's been all week to celebrate his sister's wedding. So, to appease the masses, I'm including one photo (from my cell phone) of Louie inspecting the changing table. I did buy the Land Of Nod initials for our daughter, but the only one you see lying there is the "W"...for Whitfield. I've hidden the other two letters from my mom who will be visiting this week for my Seattle baby shower. While I'm sleeping, she'll probably search for those missing two letters....but she won't find them! Besides Doug, the only person who knows the initials is the Land Of Nod saleswoman but you'll never get her to talk!

Week 29

I've written this many times on the blog, but, my growing little girl does not stop moving! She is so active, and each week, Doug and I feel how much stronger her punches, kicks, and jerks become. She has also figured out how to punch me under my ribs which isn't that comfortable! Maybe every pregnant woman feels this level of activity and what I'm experiencing is normal...but this baby girl is wild! I'd like to know if there is any correlation between a baby who constantly punches her mother in utero and the pain of labor? If I pay my dues now, do I get a free pass through childbirth?!!!

Over the past few weeks, I've slowed down considerably. I'm struggling with back pain, acid reflux, low energy, leg cramps, insomnia, etc, etc. The turn into the 3rd trimester has not gone unnoticed by me and my whining!! I looked at old blog photos and laughed at myself for thinking I was "big" back then.

This week, Doug heads to Fiji for his sister's wedding, and I'm sad that I'm not able to join the family celebration. Instead, I'll be here checking off my final items on my Summer To-Do list. School starts soon and then November 1st will be here before we know it!

Week 28

Week 27

This was a slow, lethargic week due to the excessive heat (note: the brown grass!). We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on Friday with meals--breakfast at the Maltby Cafe, lunch at 520 (after a shopping trip to Costco), and dinner at Monsoon. Does that sound like a pregnant woman's dream anniversary or what?!! I bought Doug a newborn onesie (for our daughter to wear, not for him) that reads: My Dad's a Hunk. I held it up to my belly and was shocked at how much more she'll grow over the remaining three months before I get to hug and kiss her.

Nursery update: it's coming along. I painted one wall and didn't like the color, so we're back to the beginning. With the heat, I couldn't finish this project, but I'm optimistic that our house will cool this week to allow me to paint. More items on the agenda this week: pick up the glider that arrived, meet our new pediatrician, get tested for gestational diabetes, buy the nursery rug from Cost Plus, and keep packing on the pounds! It's all so exciting!
