First Trimester: Done!

We now begin Week 13. I cannot believe we are 1/3 of the way through this pregnancy.

Our ultrasound this week was incredible. Slash couldn't keep still; we saw kicking legs and moving arms! It was hysterical and adorable. At one point, Slash covered up his/her face with both arms as if to say "I'm not ready for you to see my face. I'm still working on it." So, our child is either shy and demure, vain, or defiant!

It has been wonderful to share our news with more people this week. We have such special friends who share this excitement with us. Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful notes and messages.

And although many of you want us to keep the name Slash after this guy...



...I can confidently say that Slash Whitfield will not be written on the birth certificate.

I've been reading this book to prepare for our first child.


Doug has been reading THIS book in preparation for Slash's birth....!!!

Meet SLASH!

We're expecting a baby, due November 1st! Doug and I could not feel more blessed and excited. We have temporarily called our little creation, SLASH. Since we do not know the gender, our baby is a "she slash he" (s/he). Such witty Whitfields, huh?

I've been feeling great over the past couple weeks. My belly is really starting to pop. I'm in that awkward stage where people cannot entirely tell that I'm pregnant, and it just looks like I've gained some weight. In college, I went through a phase of gluttony which my dad and brother affectionately refer to as my hefty days. I'm now back in the hefty days, and I love it!

Speaking of weight... Slash loves chips and salsa, burritos, and anything with cheese. Isn't that convenient, because I do too....let's hope this baby isn't Mexican or Doug may start to ask questions!
