He is such a joyful, happy, handsome "chubba-wubba."
My love list for Cam:
Love his gummy smile with two little bottom teeth popping up.
Love how contagious his huge smiles are.
Love his laugh.
Love how elated he is to be able to sit up and play with toys now just like his big sis.
Love how big and cuddly he is.
Love how he screams loudly when he is hungry or tired. (There is no middle ground. He is either all smiles or all tears!)
Love how he lights up when anybody makes eye contact with him.
Love how he reaches for and plays with toys with purpose.
Love how he wakes up grinning ear to ear.
Love how his small, soft, warm hands reach up to touch and caress our faces.
Love how excited he gets when his daddy comes home from work.
Love how funny he thinks it is when the cat walks by him (just like his sister's reaction when she was his age)
Love his fuzzball head.
Love his big eyes.
Love how quickly he turns his head when he hears big sister enter the room.
Love his new "words"--" ba-ba-baw (S says it's "basketball").
Love how he screams when he's on the changing table because he hates lying still and lying down...so he just rolls over to flash his bare bottom and look around at all the action.
Love how he squawks during his music class.
Love how happy he becomes when other babies or toddlers look at him.
Love how he thinks the game of peek-a-boo and the song "Old MacDonald" are absolutely hysterical.
In some ways, I cannot believe how quickly these 6 months have blown by. How is it already possible that he is 1/2 of a year old?! In other ways, it feels like he has always been a part of this family. He brings such laughter and pure enthusiasm. This boy "tells" it like it is---huge smiles or huge cries. He is easy to figure out!
Cam is the second child for sure---quickly adapting to new schedules and new interruptions on a daily basis. I cannot count the number of times each week that I have to wake him up from his nap because we have somewhere to go (and by "we", I actually mean "Sophie"). Cam goes to sleep at night at 7 pm and wakes around 6 am, but he is still waking up in the middle of the night for 15-20 minutes to pound some nourishment. He has a pretty sensitive tummy, so we haven't been too creative or ambitious with solid foods---sticking primarily with rice cereal/oatmeal for breakfast and alternating between pears, apples, bananas, and sweet potatoes for lunch/dinner. He is a messy eater because of his impatience and his large appetite. He gets so frustrated if it takes me more than 1/2 second to load up the spoon again and refill his mouth. It gets a bit complicated when he is so demanding and his sister is a diva...meals are chaotic!
We love our baby Cameron, and we always laugh about how different our two children are. Doug often rolls his eyes when I offer my predictions for what our children will be like as teenagers, young adults, adults... long story short, right now at 6 months, our Cam-man is a HAPPY, joyful, easily entertained, adaptable baby boy.
In this season of gratitude, we are so thankful for what he offers our family. We love you, Cam!
PS. "Hide and Go Seek" is a favorite around here...the game often starts when Mommy or Daddy announce that it is time for a nap, time for bed, or time for a bath.... here is one of the best spots she has found:
