Lovelist for Sophie Marie Whitfield

I LOVE HOW...

...Sophie's favorite book is her Baby Colors book. She flaps her arms, makes sounds, and carefully studies all the images. The blue page is the best; she talks the loudest when we get to this page!

...Sophie giggles at the "baby in the mirror"....herself! We could say hi and smile to the baby in the mirror for hours.

...She loves to army crawl, scoot backwards, and roll and roll. She doesn't realize how much energy she'll save once she figures out the timing of crawling. Because of all of her movement, she now finds herself in awkward positions in the crib. She'll be on all fours, wedged with her head in the corner of the crib. It's hysterical but tiring because it requires us to help her out in the middle of the night.

...She laughs when being tickled under her chin.

...Sophie is bald and chubby with three bottom teeth. We're teaching her to embrace her inner beauty.

...She plays with all the toys in her bath. She refuses to leave the bath empty handed. If we don't let her bring one of her bath toys upstairs, a tantrum ensues...

...She loves US! It could be attributed to her third tooth or to a clingy stage, but Sophie is very attached to her family. We're dealing with a bit of "stranger anxiety" ...it's wonderful that she loves us, but she has to know that our friends are nice, too!

...She talks in the crib. Lately, she is expanding the locations for her diatribes. Her best words include any combination of vowel + Letter B or Letter G. She's also figured out the range of her voice; shrieking is now part of her playtime, too!

...She still grabs her feet. She also loves to stare at her extended arm and moving fingers.

...She sits in her high chair and cranes her head around to look out the window. I don't know if she's watching the cars, the trees, the sunlight, the birds...but it has become a routine part of our feeding times.

...She will find any pacifier within a five mile radius of her location. Doug and I are always baffled when we see a pacifier in her mouth and we wonder where and how she found it...

...She stops whatever she is doing if "Meow Meow Cat" comes into the room. She has recently worked up her courage to try to pet him. Unfortunately for everyone, she grabbed his tail and wouldn't let go.

...She slaps her right hand on the ground when she's on her tummy. She stretches out her arm and then pounds the ground again and again and again with her open hand.

...She fake coughs. She also enjoys sucking in air and blowing out air.

...She sits in her BOB stroller. She barely moves when we're walking or running. She just stares straight ahead and kicks her legs up and squeals whenever we see another pedestrian.

...She loves playing with her daddy---"window wiper, window wiper" is her favorite flying-in-the-air activity. She's great at sitting on D's shoulders and looking down at me, too!!

This list is not exhaustive. We love her to pieces. Doug and I didn't think we were capable of loving someone as much as we do her. It's indescribable.

On the eve of my 30th birthday, as I reflect on my life, my heart overflows with love for this little girl. I hope that she has half of my happiness on her 30th birthday.

xoxo,

E
