We spent Spring Break 2016 in Maui with my entire family. It was pure paradise with days spent covered in sand and saltwater. Our landlocked children were in awe of the magic of the ocean. They loved playing with cousins and grandparents and their aunt and uncle. The trip came at the perfect time to break up a crazy winter and spring of Doug's work travel. The kids were obsessed with Fun Daddy which meant that {lame} Mommy could sit in a beach chair and zone out... that's a perfect recipe for a vacay!
Highlights include: the stomach flu that jumped between families, Cameron asking why Sophie was becoming such a brown person, visiting the amazing Maui Aquarium (SHARKS!!), Sophie learning to boogie board and tread water in the open water, Cameron's obsession with the little geckos, an epic thunder and lightning storm on our final night, and the ever famous Donuts on a Stick tradition.
Sophie sat quietly in the back of the car silently crying as we drove to the airport at the end of the week. These big tears rolled down her cheeks that the trip was over. She is such a sensitive and sweet creature. And without prompting, Cameron reached over and grabbed her hand. As they held hands, he told her "It's ok Sophie. You can live here when you're an adult just like I did when I was Daddy."
