Headfirst into Summer

June has been big and bold and full of chlorine, sand, dirt, and cold treats.

I had a birthday!

My parents prepared a scavenger hunt for me (ands kids!) to enjoy.

Birthday donuts with my munchkins!
Sophie and Cameron participated in a week-long Farm Camp here in the neighborhood.  These kids are true Idaho-ians!  Here are the photos their amazing Farm Camp teachers sent me:

In this wheelbarrow race, the odds definitely seem against my two little farmers....!!

Farm Camp was awesome for so many reasons.  First, it was amazing for Sophie to ride her bike (with Cam and Mommy in tow) to the neighborhood barn.  Then, I'd pick them up after lunch and we would ride our bikes straight to the pool to swim and snack.  That's "THE" life! I also loved having a couple hours all to myself! I ran, I read, I gardened, I slowly perused the aisles of Fred Meyer... it was awesome! Finally, it was great for both kids to be in the camp together and to be one another's buddy.  They both look out for each other, and Doug and I are very proud of their relationship.

To kick off summer, Sophie and I joined her best friend, Ally, and Ally's mom for a "preschool graduation" dinner celebration and visit to Build-A-Bear.  These girls are the sweetest together.

My reader and my listener:

Doug and I joined together as Team Whitfield to compete in the Boise 70.3 Ironman as a relay team.  Doug did the swim and bike, and I completed the run portion.  We had a lot of fun working together, and we worked our butts off to finish it in the Boise afternoon heat! Such a great experience! I'm so proud of my husband and of myself!

Immediately following the race, we showered, changed babysitters, and headed on our bikes for a neighborhood progressive party with all our friends.  Love my relay partner!

And yet another adventure.... the kids and I spent a morning at Lucky Peak.  These kids LOVE sand.

And nothing is better than ice cream during the summer with these two crazies:

June, you've started off with record heat and record fun.  We see you on the horizon, July.  And we are ready for you, too!
